PEX Tubing
PEX Tubing is So Easy To Install
PEX tubing is gaining momentum for various kinds of plumbing applications. Although, its installation is as easy as eating food, but still not everyone may be aware of some of the techniques. A professional help can be taken initially for installing radiant PEX tubing or the task can be performed by an individual also.
Half inch PEX tubing, one inch PEX tubing and 3/8 inch PEX tubing are the most common sizes used for plumbing activities. Installation of all these sizes is done in a similar manner and involves only few steps that can be done with ease. First attention has to be given on measurement of PEX tube while installing it. With the help of a cutter, PEX tubing can be cut into proportionate and accurate size required for a particular application. Care needs to be taken while cutting it so that no rough edges are left over the tube.
A copper crimp ring is then interlocked through radiant PEX tubing, so that the tube can be easily inserted into fitting. Copper crimp ring must be shifted towards upward direction by positioning it to a distance varying between 0.125 inches to 0.25 inches from radiant PEX. An angle of exactly 90 degrees is required to be placed over the copper crimp ring so that it can be conveniently closed. It is also done to prevent occurrence of any uneven cut on PEX tubing and to avoid non uniform crimp. This is done because a non uniform crimp can result in any kind of fault that may make further installation of radiant PEX tedious and hard.
A go-no gauge test is performed for PEX tubing installation to check its actual tolerance level. If the go-no gauge test fails or slides over the tube then it means that the installation task has not been performed efficiently. A successful test implies that installation of PEX tubing has been done correctly and tube can tolerate even high pressure of water or any other kind of substance for which it is installed. A main point to be considered is that materials used for making tubing initially undergoes 1 inch contraction when the temperature is varied by 10 degree Celsius.
PEX plumbing and tubes are crafted in such a way that these contractions are met at a distance of every 100 ft interval. It is vital to install PEX plumbing with due care and concern so that such pitfalls are avoided. PEX plumbing tubing can also be conveniently installed for serving other utilities and functions and that is why it has emerged as a top choice in list of plumbers and contractors.
